More Information

Step 1

Add an Oracle database for which you want to provide copies to users.

After you add the Oracle database, it becomes a database source in Velocity. Then, each time that the database source is ingested, a copy of the database is available to users for their sandboxes.

See Adding an Oracle database to ingest into Velocity

Step 2

Ingest a database source by using one of the following methods:

  • From the Velocity Console

  • From NetBackup

  • From the command line

See Ingesting an Oracle database into Velocity for the first time

See Ingesting an Oracle database with NetBackup CoPilot

See Ingesting an Oracle database into Velocity from the command line

Step 3

Give users access to the database copies that are provided each time that you run an ingest of the database source.

To give users access, you create a role that has access to the database source and then assign users to that role. Users can access the database copies of the database source to which they have privileges.

Or you can assign the database source to an existing role and any users that are assigned to that role inherit permission to access the database copies.

See Changing the database sources that are assigned to a role

See Assigning users to an existing role

Step 4

Let users know they can create a sandbox to access a database copy.
